Woody’s opened in the old “Chili Willie’s building but you’d never know about it’s past history thanks to the great redesign that gives the dining room a nice Caribbean feel. From the loose straw edge to the anodized aluminum clapboard siding the place just feels like Jamaica in Huntington.

One of the bright culinary spots in Huntington is Francois’ Pastry Shop.  Located on Eighth Street in the Southside neighborhood, Francois’ is owned and operated by a true French pastry chef.  He creates daily fresh, delectable treats with perfectly flaky pastry, creamy and flavorful fillings and lush fruit.  Walking in to the shop, you are greeted with cases of cakes, pastries, cookies, muffins, and croissants.  There are tables to sit and order tea to enjoy with your sweet treat, with both served on beautiful dishes.  The majority of orders are …

There is a painting framed over a booth at the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant located at 914 4th Avenue in Huntington that perfectly captures the essence of the downtown favorite. The portrait is of an alluring senorita, reveling in revolutionary energy. The waving Mexican flag in the background is preceded in the foreground with the traditionally-garbed woman; her cotton blouse contrasting to the bandoliers of ammunition crossing her chest.

Fat Patty’s on 20th Street and Third Avenue is a near perfect mesh of Marshall University meets Huntington; depending on the time of day, there is a blend of campus and town folks in this midtown “joint.” There is a bar and a dining area, with televisions on every wall. The Taste of Asia offers a modern and relaxed atmosphere along with a sampling of cuisine from across eastern Asia including Thai, Japanese, and a variety of Chinese styles. Good food and a great location make this a restaurant you shouldn’t miss when visiting downtown Huntington.
