HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Mavens Nine, an exhibition by The Feminist Art Project, will open with a public reception at 6 p.m. Friday, March 12 at Gallery 842 in Huntington. The exhibition will continue until Friday, April 23.
The Feminist Art Project is an established group of local artists who share the common goal of highlighting the talent and significance of female artists. The collection of artists is a continuation of the group previously launched by Katherine Cox in 2008.

Pedal for PATH, a Spin-a-thon planned to raise money for the Paul Ambrose Trail for Health, will take place Tuesday, March 16 in the spin room at the Marshall Recreation Center on Marshall University’s Huntington campus.
The event is open to the public, which means participants do not have to be members of the Marshall Recreation Center. It is being organized by the Marshall University School of Medicine AMA (American Medical Association) and the Marshall Recreation Center.

Marshall University’s Department of Music and the MU Opera Theatre will present a program of “Gilbert & Sullivan Gems” Sunday, Feb. 14. It will take place at 3 p.m. in the Smith Recital Hall on Marshall’s Huntington campus.

Mrs. West Virginia America 2010 will be chosen on Saturday, February 20th, 7:00pm at the Renaissance Center at 900 8th Street in Huntington. Tickets are $35.00 and can be purchased from the pageant office or at the door. I just received a note from the tireless Jennifer Williams with Huntingtons Community Garden Team. Now, if you haven’t heard about this group you’re missing out because they rock. Basically, they are working hard to not only beautify Huntington but also to teach people how to raise their own flowers and produce. Even if you have never played Disc Golf before you might be interested in the Disc Golf tournament on January 30th 2010. Cost per person is $20 and all proceeds go to benefit the local food bank!
