I just received a note from the tireless Jennifer Williams with Huntingtons Community Garden Team. Now, if you haven’t heard about this group you’re missing out because they rock. Basically, they are working hard to not only beautify Huntington but also to teach people how to raise their own flowers and produce. Not only that but they are heavily involved in helping make the community a better place in general. I really can’t say enough good things about this fabulous group of people and their efforts …

That old pair of unwanted blue jeans lying in the back of the closet now has a chance to be given “new life.”
Cotton Incorporated launched the Cotton: From Blue to Green denim drive across eight college campuses this fall, including Marshall University’s Huntington campus. The Public Relations Student Society of America has teamed up with Cotton and Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity to promote this cause. It is a call to action for the donation of denim that will be recycled, converted into insulation and used in Habitat homes.

Huntington Art Gawk

If you’ve walked downtown town at all over the past two weeks you may have noticed various works of art on display in many of the storefronts – particularly on 3rd and 4th ave and 9th street. All of this art has been setup as part of the ArtGawk – a great initiative to beautify our downtown and to showcase some of the great artists in the area. The work was coordinated by the same folks who put together gallery 842 – a free art gallery at 842 4th ave.

The survey results will be used to gain a deeper understanding of the

One of the strengths of Huntington is its people, and their willingness to give of their time, talent, and treasure to the benefit of others in need. It is my intent to showcase organizations that exemplify this spirit of giving, via a series of articles on each organization that helps others in need, and depends on the generosity of the citizenry of Huntington to realize this goal. If you know of such an organization in the Huntington region, please contact me directly at evdorsey@gmail.com. It is my hope that some …

Tree-lined street in Huntington, WV
The following article was printed in the April 15th edition of the Herald Dispatch (www.herald-dispatch.com). It is one, in a series of articles written about the Create Huntington Chat ‘n Chews.

That happened last week when I read the report from the Tree Team. The team was created when a young couple, who had been attending the …
